Don't worry you're not old and past it. He is the latest internet craze.
The BBC have set up a game in which you have to find out how he died by trawling the interweb. There are dozens of sites and blogs set up as well as chat rooms and forums in which clues are scattered. You have to register to play and all the info will be sent to you.
His official site is here and is really good. The music on the site is actually better than most stuff in the charts these days.
